Are you ready to be remarkable?

“After years of being taught that you have to be an average worker for an average organization, that society would support you for sticking it out, you discover that the rules have changed. The only way to succeed is to be remarkable, to be talked about.” – Seth Godin

An American entrepreneur and public speaker famed for coining ‘permission marketing,’ Seth Godin authored more than a dozen books including the recent New York Times Bestseller ‘Linchpin.’ As part of Seth’s 2010 Road Trip: Fight the Lizard, this Thursday, July 22, you are invited to a live, interactive and off the record seminar for one day only at the Warner Theatre in Washington DC.

In his recent book, ‘Linchpin,’ Seth talks of how the American Dream is changing, no longer reflecting we follow instructions such as showing up on time, keeping our heads down and sucking it up – but rather we “be remarkable, be generous, create art, make judgment calls, and connect people and ideas,” leaving no choice but to be rewarded for it. As you read, Seth argues with you arguing with yourself, eliminating any room for “I can’t.” He points out how Jeff Bezos and Steve Jobs were raised by adoptive parents; Nelson Mandela changed the world before he left his jail cell; and how Cathy Hughes dropped out of college to become the first black woman to run a public company in the United States.

On a social note, Seth’s objective is right on par with how our society has played into it’s use of social media platforms like You Tube, Facebook, Twitter and much more, stating “When your organization becomes more human, more remarkable, faster on its feet, and more likely to connect directly with customers, it becomes indispensable.” Remarkable companies require remarkable people – are you ready to be a Linchpin?
