DC Social Media Happy Hour, It’s a Wrap!
Last night, over 150 local social media enthusiasts gathered at Public Bar for the first DC Social Media Happy Hour – or rather the first one spun off from the new Facebook Group. When Facebook launched the new Groups feature I first joined the DC Tech group, formed by Justin Thorp. Seeing the potential to connect on a more personal level than Twitter offered I created the DC Social Media Facebook Group to collaborate with other industry professionals. Over the past two months 300+ people have joined the conversation, fostering a wonderfully informative, educational, and collaborative online community. Members share posts they
are reading, local job opportunities and industry events, ask questions, and start discussions. It’s become my home online! Needless to say, an offline event was called for. We ate, we drank, we spun the wheel for a better bar deal, and by the end of the night our very own @digitalsista, Shireen Mitchell, was rocking the dance floor! If you missed the craic stay tuned for another great event in April. Special thanks to Tony Hudgins and the crew at Public Bar for the private space, great food, and bar specials; Hillary Kline for capturing the events through photos (available here); Peter Corbett and DCWEEK for the first round of shots; and YOU ALL for coming!
