DC Twestival Rocked Shadow Room (and Twitter) Last Night!

| 03/25/2011

Not at Shadow Room last night?  Then you missed DC Twestival 2011, one of the greatest mash-ups of social media, social good and great times!

Since 2009, DC Twestival (a Twitter festival) recognizes and supports one Washington, DC area non-profit and harnesses the power of social media to help spread the organization’s message. This year’s beneficiary was FAIR Fund, an organization co-founded and led by Andrea Powell with the mission of preventing sex trafficking and sexual violence in youths and young adults.

As always, the event brought out some of the area’s best and brightest social media tweeps and the most generous hearts. Volunteers coordinated the entire event and even the venue, Shadow Room, was donated for the cause.  Thanks to all the Twitter power in the room, DC Twestival also twice trended on Twitter!  Way to go!

For those who couldn’t attend but would still like to support FAIR Fund, donations can be made here through the end of March. Many thanks to our sponsors Network Solutions, Vitamin Water, Shine On Storytelling, popchips, Shadow Room, and our media partner Metromix DC.
