Pearls of Purpose Gala for FAIR Fund
As the recent benefactor of DC Twestival, I was honored to meet the local DC team for FAIR Fund and learn of their work to prevent human trafficking of youth in Washington DC. By building community leadership, providing education and empowerment programs, and offering compassionate intervention services, they have made an impressive impact in our local community and beyond.
On May 4th, FAIR Fund invites you to join them and empower change at their Pearls of Purpose Gala at City Tavern Club. Join Emmy Award winning CNN journalist Amber Lyon, DC JewelGirls and Special Guest, Biljana, a Serbian JewelGirl survivor of trafficking. Ladies DC is proud to be a community partner for this prestigious event with an Honorary Host Committee of Mrs. Michelle Fenty, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Congresswoman Jackie Speier.
Trio Caliente, the famed Latin gypsy rumba jazz musicians, will get your hips swinging as you mingle with wine in hand devouring passed hors d’oeuvres and Georgetown Cupcakes! The evening will feature a silent auction, special presentation, and sale of jewelry handcrafted by the DC JewelGirls art therapy and economic empowerment program.
…and not to be forgotten or missed out on, the after party will be held at Georgetown’s exclusive L2 Lounge.
There’s more! Pearls on the Patio, the warm-up event, will be hosted at W’s J&G Steakhouse on April 26th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Drink specials, Pearls of Purpose silent auction preview, and a chance to WIN your ticket to Pearls of Purpose on May 4th! 10% of all proceeds will benefit FAIR Fund.

JewelGirls is an income generation and art therapy program that gives teen women a chance for safer, healthier, and brighter futures. Participants of the JewelGirls program are aged 13 to 26. Currently, the program supports 200 teen women in Bosnia, Serbia, Russia, Uganda, and Washington, D.C. Through JewelGirls, participants come together to create unique jewelry while gaining access to therapy, new life skills, financial management skills, and pathways toward a future free of poverty and violence. JewelGirls come from many backgrounds but all share a common interest in making their own lives better. Many of the young women participants of JewelGirls have experienced situations of sex and labor trafficking, extreme poverty, life on the streets, statelessness, and homeless. However, JewelGirls focuses on their resiliency and passion for a better life. (Source: FAIR Fund)
