Even SAX in DC is Political!

| 05/11/2011

This evening I had the pleasure of attending the DC Magazine official opening event for Washington DC’s new cheeky restaurant, SAX. Located on 11th right off of H Street NW, Sax replaces what many of you remember as Posh – a name you may now replace with pleasure

An unofficial “VVIP” event launched last night and interesting enough I found more than one describe the venue as “offensive”. I entered expecting to be stripped, groped or made to watch live porn all evening… Perhaps if you were born and raised in DC and have yet to travel beyond the tight lace and neckties you might shiver at the nude murals, semi-erotic dancing, and seductive cocktail gals. However, having spent five of my younger years in Miami my eyes are far from virgin.

SAX is sexy. From gilded columns to hand-buttoned, tufted-damask banquettes and oversized chandeliers with gold oozing from every pore, the design is masterful. Corset-clad set kittens served flutes of Champagne, wine, special martinis and an array of hors d’oeuvres on silver platters. Guests crowded every corner, dressed in their best desk-to-dusk cocktail attire. Service was overly attentive, staff were pleasant, and the atmosphere was alluring – nothing less than expected from any party thrown by Peter Abrahams, Martha Pheeny and team at DC Magazine.

Did I mention the live entertainment? Check out the video…

Sidebar: You best have some bills to spill, cos even the bar is reservations only at this swanky joint!
