DC Politicians to Hit the Karaoke Machine for Charity Event

| 10/13/2011

D.C. politicians aren’t all business suits and ties these days. The American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) Mid-Atlantic Chapter is hosting the third annual “Karaoke in the Capital” event in which politicians, members of the media, and the apolitical citizens of Capitol Hill all join together to forget their political affiliation and to rock out with a microphone to some classic karaoke jams!

Tickets for the event are $15 and proceeds go to a unique charitable cause (with no political agenda)!  Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation provides under-funded schools with musical instruments to supply the music education program.

With CBS’s Bob Schieffer as your emcee for the biggest karaoke event of the year, the entertainment will certainly not dissipate quickly. Scheiffer’s band, the Honky Tonk Confidential, will perform as an opening act to the musically talented (but, really, probably not-so-talented) performers of the evening.

Come cheer on some political figures, have a laugh and a drink, and make sure to clap loudly! After all, it will most likely be amateur hour – not that I don’t have faith in our politicians’ singing abilities, but I imagine much support and liquid courage will be needed.
