Give the Gift of Arts and Crafts This Year and Shop at the Turkish Bazaar

| 11/23/2011

Want to get a taste of what it’s like to shop in the souks of Istanbul without leaving home? Go to the annual Anatolian Artisans’ (AnArts) Holiday Sale in DC on Saturday, December 3 at the Tregaron Campus of the Washington International School.

This unique bazaar offers a window into Turkey’s incredible culture and artistic legacy. Best of all, it’s just in time for holiday shopping.

Shoppers can purchase one-of-a-kind, fair trade arts and crafts created by Turkish artisans. All of the beautiful painted ceramics and tiles, scarves, kilims, jewelry, embroidered items, knit wear, cloth and leather handbags, copperware, and shoes are handmade and each item is an expression of the artist who created it.

Take a few hours to browse each stall and be sure to sample terrific Turkish teas, delectable Turkish pastries, and a range of other Turkish goodies while you shop. AnArts is dedicated to helping crafters and traditional artists in Turkey become economically self-sufficient. They provide product development assistance, business training, and marketing
expertise, and work to introduce American consumers to Turkey’s rich culture through events, festivals, and bazaars.
