Oyster Tasting at BlackSalt Fish Market & Restaurant

| 11/02/2011

Black’s Restaurant Group is on a mission… and a roll. Hosting a slew of events to advocate for the support of children with diabetes throughout the year, chef/owners Barbara and Jeff Black intend to raise $200,000 to build a new state of the art kitchen as part of a $5 million expansion of the Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children’s National Medical Center.

The Second Annual Oyster Tasting Event will provide guests with over a dozen varieties of oysters, which will be paired with seven wines from around the world. Pastry Chef Susan Wallace will be baking up some sweet treats, and guests will have the opportunity to win some of her famous pies in an at-the-door raffle.

When it comes to oysters, as I have quickly come to learn from the previous fundraising events, Black’s Restaurant Group is the family of restaurants to turn to.  BlackSalt Fish Market & Restaurant will be serving their oysters shucked on the half shell, grilled, fried and as Oysters Rockefeller this Sunday for the event. For the full oyster tasting experience, a local oyster farmer will be present to speak on the topic of oyster farming and to answer any questions patrons may have. Be prepared for a unique seafood and wine pairing experience, and enjoy the night as you support a great cause!
