Things To Do for Thanksgiving in DC

| 11/13/2011

Thanksgiving isn’t just tables full of great food – although that’s definitely a plus — it’s about spending time with family and friends.

We’ve pulled together some of the family friendly events happening around the District for this year’s festivities.

Don’t just settle for watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade on television, join in the sounds and moves of a few local ones happening for the holidays. Downtown Silver Spring will host a pre-Thanksgiving parade on Saturday, November 19. Complete with high school bands, floats and local organizations, this parade will celebrate all things holiday.

It’s decked with character costumes, music and 70 groups planning to participate that are sure to do everything opposite of disappoint. After participating in Black Friday sales in the Town Center, nothing keeps the excitement going like filling the streets for this parade.
