ABOUT DCEVENTJUNKIE

In January 2011 and 2012 @DCeventjunkie was voted by peers on WashingtonPost.com as DC’s Favorite ‘Nightlife Insider’ on Twitter, and was nominated by Metromix DC and voted by peers as Best Local Tweeter 2011! We have also been noted by Washington Flyer as one of the Top 100 Best Travel Blogs (representing DC) and in the Twitter Top 10 for Hottest Events DC on Examiner.com. DCeventjunkie.com has been quoted in the Washington Post Express, NBC Washington, TBD, Washingtontimes.com, NBC’s The Feast, and more.

Founder and Editor, Lisa Byrne, was named one of DC’s nineteen women to meet in Capitol File Magazine’s Black Book and was featured as a “Health Hero” on Washingtonian Magazine’s Well+Being Blog in August 2011.

DCeventjunkie began as the personal Twitter account of Lisa in 2009. Then a Director of Catering and Conference Services, Lisa spent her time planning and managing meetings and events, and her time-off attending them. Building a network both online and off, Lisa is extremely active in the DC social media community and host of regular events. As some gatherings require more than 140 characters to share, @DCeventjunkie acquired a blog early in 2010 and was proud to launch as a more detailed events website late February 2011. Our focus is events in and around Washington DC in areas such as networking, fundraising, social tech, food and beverage, conferences, citywide festivals and more – and our mission is to share many of them through real-time tweets, Facebook updates, and Tumblr or Instagram posts integrated into our site. If we can’t get you off the couch, we’ll keep you up-2-date as best we can!

When not blogging, tweeting, or attending DC events, Editor Lisa Byrne can be found at Pappas Group where she leads the agency in Social Strategy for clients; blogging at lisabyrne.me on marketing and tech; and writing about health and fitness with her trainer on their shared blog The Trainer and The Client. Lisa is also the Co-Founder of DC Wine Week, a weeklong celebration of all things wine around Washington, DC.
