AROUND DC
Filmfest DC: Washington’s International Film Festival
You dominated Oscar’s this year. All of your bets were on “The Artist;” you nailed the best and worst dressed list; and you even predicted something sinister would happen to Seacrest on the red carpet. But somewhere in between Billy Crystal’s montage spoofs and Jennifer Lopez’s nip slip, something else happened – You were completely lost when four words were muttered: Best Foreign Language Film.
ArtJamz Dupont Studio Opening Events
Have you been to an ARTJamz event yet? I keep missing the pop-up gallery/bar/studio party, as it’s been jumping from venue to venue in the city for a year and half now. Luckily for us, they are opening their first stationary retail location in Dupont on March 9th! In case you’ve hiding under a rock and haven’t heard of it yet, ARTJAMZ is a participatory art studio & party which, until now, functioned as a pop-up event in unique venues across the city such as The Corcoran Gallery of Art, empty retail spaces in Crystal City and Dupont Circle, the General Walter Smith Mansion in Georgetown, and the Gibson Guitar Showroom.
A Week of Chocolate in Georgetown
There’s a week for everything in DC — food, tech, wine, social media, meat — and now chocolate! Local startup, SalesVote, has partnered with over a dozen merchants in the Georgetown area to douse you in chocolate from February 13th to 19th. You can choose from a $50 Silver Badge (good for you and a guest) and choose five of your favorite chocolatiers, or splurge on the $70 Gold Badge which also includes two passes to the Launch Party at L2 tonight – yes tonight, grab it now!

DC Fashion Week 2012: Universal Style, Local Flare
The holidays are over and the reality of winter is setting in: the stretch between plummeting temperatures and the glimmering promises of spring seems never-ending. However, there is one way to break-free of the mid-winter blues… and it doesn’t involve shoveling snow or hacking at ice. This year’s DC Fashion Week: The Power of Style is heating up the city and simultaneously showcasing all the stylish ways you can keep warm for the remainder of winter.
