Filmfest DC: Washington’s International Film Festival
You dominated Oscar’s this year. All of your bets were on “The Artist;” you nailed the best and worst dressed list; and you even predicted something sinister would happen to Seacrest on the red carpet. But somewhere in between Billy Crystal’s montage spoofs and Jennifer Lopez’s nip slip, something else happened – You were completely lost when four words were muttered: Best Foreign Language Film.
Paso Robles Wine Country’s Grand Tasting Tour Takes Over DC
Paso Robles Wine Country, which sits along California’s Central Coast halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, is the new “it” region in wine making. The “new Napa” as many call it, boasts a long growing season of warm days and cool nights, over 26,000 vineyard acres, and over 40 wine grape types including the area’s heritage variety, Zinfandel. Why should you care? Cos the “next Napa’s” next stop on their grand tasting tour will be the in the nations’ capital. The Paso Robles wine country is coming to DC & bringing with it, a week of vinous events.
ArtJamz Dupont Studio Opening Events
Have you been to an ARTJamz event yet? I keep missing the pop-up gallery/bar/studio party, as it’s been jumping from venue to venue in the city for a year and half now. Luckily for us, they are opening their first stationary retail location in Dupont on March 9th! In case you’ve hiding under a rock and haven’t heard of it yet, ARTJAMZ is a participatory art studio & party which, until now, functioned as a pop-up event in unique venues across the city such as The Corcoran Gallery of Art, empty retail spaces in Crystal City and Dupont Circle, the General Walter Smith Mansion in Georgetown, and the Gibson Guitar Showroom.
Social Media Week DC Put the “Social” in Social Media
If you‘re a social media nut, professional, or novice, last week’s Social Media Week DC was the hottest tech ticket in town.
This unique event was born three years ago and was the brainchild of Crowdcentric Media LLC. Each year, 60,000 people attend live events during Social Media Week and they are joined by more than 500,000 others virtually and via mobile devices. The event allows anyone involved in social media to explore how social media affects economies, media, cultures, politics, and life.
Logan Tavern to Deck the Walls Green for Paddy’s Day
It’s a rare partying soul not reveling in all things Irish on St. Patrick’s Day — specifically the sport of drinking, which apparently the world thinks we have mastered. Not to be left out, Logan Tavern will be blasting Irish tunes, serving up traditional fare, and pouring beer specials till your eyes turn green.

A Week of Chocolate in Georgetown
There’s a week for everything in DC — food, tech, wine, social media, meat — and now chocolate! The ReelAbilities Disabilities Film Festival débuts it’s DC tour this February. The award-winning national film festival promotes awareness and appreciation of the lives of people with different disabilities. Through features, documentaries and shorts it showcases their unique experience and highlights their artistic expression. The films present stories of people living with, and overcoming, extraordinary disadvantages including autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, blindness and mental health issues.
