@rkref roadkillrefugee:
Streets have cleared. People in DC don’t like to mill around outside. Unless it’s billable.

Georgetown Celebrates Fashion Night Out
Fashionable media-ites gathered last night to learn what to expect at this year’s Fashion‘s Night Out on September 8. With more than 80 participating stores, the 2011 experience will feature individual events at Georgetown stores led by members of the Fashion’s Night Out committee, which include Kate Michael of K Street Kate, Angie Goff from WUSA9, Samy K from Hot 99.5, Kelly Colis from 94.7 Fresh FM, and Phillipa Hughes of The Pink Line Project, to name a few. For the second year, the Fashion’s Night Out event will benefit Labels for Love, a charity founded by DC local Mary Amons (“Real Housewives of DC”) to raise awareness for local and national women’s and children’s causes, including Cancer Schmancer.

Scoutmob’s Guide to Local Living Launches Today in DC
Last night I popped by Lamont Bishop Gallery to check out the prelaunch event for Scoutmob, a whole new way to do deals in DC. Yeah, I know, another deals site! Well from what I can see Scoutmob is doing it better. No need to pre-purchase anything that you’re likely to forget to redeem (I’m guilty there) or that expires before you use it. But what entices me to fan Scoutmob over any of the other leading deal sites is the editorial content and crowd-sourcing efforts to get the local DC community involved. They’ll be covering what’s what, where and when around DC, local faces to know in your city, artists and up-and-coming musicians, designers and writers to admire — while local food bloggers you know and love will weigh in on what to eat and where. Read on for details on their public launch event tonight…
Feel Magnifique with the French on Bastille Day in DC
I’m sure it’s as entertaining for the French on Bastille Day as it is for the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day…well maybe not as much, but it’s still fun!
With the loss of Les Halles you might have thought the Bastille Bartender Race was a story of the past, but never fear — PAUL Bakery & Cafe plans to spice things up with a Bastille Day Baguette Relay Race! And with promises of participants in French Maid outfits, well how could one resist? Read on for menu specials from Central, Sofitel and BLT Steak!
