Logan Tavern to Deck the Walls Green for Paddy’s Day
It’s a rare partying soul not reveling in all things Irish on St. Patrick’s Day — specifically the sport of drinking, which apparently the world thinks we have mastered. Not to be left out, Logan Tavern will be blasting Irish tunes, serving up traditional fare, and pouring beer specials till your eyes turn green.
Wear green and choose from a free appetizer, dessert, or Stoli doly shot…If you’re thinking that now’s the time to check out their Warm Bittersweet Chocolate Fudge Cake you’ve been drooling over I’m going to interject with this: Paddy Up and Get Drinking!

Wine and Food Truck Pairing Dinner at The Fourth Estate
Food trucks have been all the rage for the last couple of years. While the convenience and novelty of eating from a mini mobile restaurant is appealing, the main reason I (and I imagine many others) often opt to go to a “real restaurant” is the availability of wine – oh, and the whole tables, chairs, and roof thing. For one night at least, that’s all going to change. The food trucks are coming indoors and the wine will be flowing.

Masa 14 Previews their Melting Pot Menu
Chef Antonio Burrell has put his own twist on the cuisine of Manila by creating a fusion of flavors between Latin and Asian cultures. Masa 14 is rolling out their new February special menu themed around the melting pot that is Manila.
“Melting Pot: Manila highlights Spanish influence on Manila’s culinary landscape, dating back to the 15th century, when Manila became the center of Spanish activity in the Far East.”
Special Shanghai-Sao Paulo Menu at Zengo
Last week, DCeventjunkie was invited to sample Zengo’s new Shanghai-Sao Paulo menu, rolling out on February 1, just in time to make your Valentine’s Day date night plans! Featuring sure-to-be-fan favorites such as the Crispy Shanghai Spring Rolls, Picahna Steak and XO Style King Crab, and Coconut Tapioca for dessert, guests will be more than satisfied after an evening of drinking and dining with the great staff and skilled chefs. The concept for the ever-changing menu is that the chefs at Zengo successfully find ways to blend the flavors from one Latin and one Asian country to keep things interesting throughout the year.
Savor Wine and Chocolate to Benefit the MS Society
Few combinations are as decadently delicious as wine and chocolate, or as good for your heart. If you need to justify indulging in this wicked combination, you can absolve your guilt by attending this year’s Wine & Chocolate Tasting Benefitting the National MS Society. The tasty event will be held February 12, 2012 from 1:00 to 4:00 at Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro at the Westin Hotel in Reston. Proceeds also go to support the Determined Soles Team participate in the Challenge Walk for the National Capital Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Chinese New Year at Zentan
Get ready to channel your inner Dragon and Celebrate New Year’s. Again. Yes, that’s right, again. This celebration will involve fireworks too, but the similarities end there. This time you’ll be ringing in 4710, which, on the Chinese calendar, is the year of the Dragon. You won’t have any dull ball drops to watch for this party thank goodness, just 15 days of colorful parades, beautifully costumed dancers, and fun galore. Make sure you reserve enough time during the festivities to sample China’s diverse cuisine because eating is serious business during New Year. Choosing the right restaurant is paramount if you want to feed your inner dragon, and for the money, that means getting a table at ZENTAN.
Foodie and the Beast Live at Carmine’s
It’s a tale as old as time: Foodie meets beast. Foodie marries beast. Foodie and beast start an edgy radio show to give listeners the inside scoop on the hottest restaurants, the tastiest libations and the latest food gossip in the District. Nycci and David Nellis are, respectively, the foodie and the beast and the hosts of the show, Foodie and the Beast, which airs Sunday mornings on WTOP-AM. However, on January 15, the dynamic duo is taking their show out of the studio and straight to Carmine’s DC to broadcast in front of a live audience.
Park Hyatt’s Masters of Food & Wine is a Foodie Festival of Flavors
January can be the doldrums after the frenzied party season of December. It’s the perfect time of the year to slow down, take some “me” time, and recharge. Why not take a hands-on cooking class, sample craft beer and wine, or learn a thing or two about the art of tea and fromagerie? Foodies can take advantage of a food extravaganza right in your own backyard. The timing is perfect because Park Hyatt Washington is hosting their winter season Masters of Food & Wine on Saturday, January 14.

DC Restaurant Week 2012 is upon us again, and it’s quickly become my favorite time of year since I moved into the District. Samuel Beckett’s One Year Anniversary Party
You’re invited to get down Irish style as Samuel Beckett’s celebrates one year since opening their bold red doors in Shirlington Village. When asked why this particular location, owner Mark Kirwan responded in true Irish-form stating “No other Irish had claimed land here yet — there was a void and we needed to fill it.” And fill it they did, and will! On Sunday, January 8th, the party starts rocking at 7 PM with live music by Small Town and complimentary bites to nosh on as you delve into another Magners Irish Cider or the perfect pint of Guinness (this girl would know). As if that wasn’t tempting enough, Beckett’s will be raffling off a $1200 travel voucher for Ireland from Isle Inn Tours…
