WINE LOVERS
Wine Riot Back in DC This Weekend!
Did you check out Wine Riot last October? It happened to fall on the final day of DC Wine Week leading to a very happy ending. Well they’re back this weekend and you’re invited to wine up at Daughters of the Revolution Constitution Hall. Prefer to sip on a Saturday afternoon or shake up your Saturday night? Choose from a 1-5 PM or 7-11 PM riot and walk your way through 250 wines from around the globe.
Wine Dinner Delights at Agora Restaurant
Agora Restaurant hosted its second wine dinner this week at its 17th Street, NW DC location. The Turkish and Greek fusion restaurant’s wine director, Thierry Lesparre, was on-hand to pair four wines from the country of Georgia alongside Executive Chef, Ghassan Jarrouj’s, four-course menu.
With archeological proof of winemaking going back as far as the Stone Age, Georgia is known by many as the birthplace of winemaking. According to Lesparre, the country’s rich soil and varied terrain–which ranges from near desert to subtropical lowlands–contributes to its success in grape and wine production.
Support Local and Help Global with Whole Foods Planet Fondation
It’s around the corner — and you can’t miss it! Our favorite foodie market, Whole Foods, invites you to Support Local Help Global Fundraiser this Tuesday, March 13th, 2012. With 12 wine tastings, 4 select beers and 10 fabulous food stations, this is a fun-foodie-fundraiser not to be missed. Not to mention, local DC hottie Ted Garber will entertain you All Night Long. Lee Valkenaar, co-chairman of Whole Planet Foundation, will beg your ear; there’ll be a complimentary keepsake wine glass or beer tasting pilsner, raffle, and silent auction.
ArtJamz Dupont Studio Opening Events
Have you been to an ARTJamz event yet? I keep missing the pop-up gallery/bar/studio party, as it’s been jumping from venue to venue in the city for a year and half now. Luckily for us, they are opening their first stationary retail location in Dupont on March 9th! In case you’ve hiding under a rock and haven’t heard of it yet, ARTJAMZ is a participatory art studio & party which, until now, functioned as a pop-up event in unique venues across the city such as The Corcoran Gallery of Art, empty retail spaces in Crystal City and Dupont Circle, the General Walter Smith Mansion in Georgetown, and the Gibson Guitar Showroom.
Wine and Food Truck Pairing Dinner at The Fourth Estate
Food trucks have been all the rage for the last couple of years. While the convenience and novelty of eating from a mini mobile restaurant is appealing, the main reason I (and I imagine many others) often opt to go to a “real restaurant” is the availability of wine – oh, and the whole tables, chairs, and roof thing. For one night at least, that’s all going to change. The food trucks are coming indoors and the wine will be flowing.
Park Hyatt’s Masters of Food & Wine is a Foodie Festival of Flavors
January can be the doldrums after the frenzied party season of December. It’s the perfect time of the year to slow down, take some “me” time, and recharge. Why not take a hands-on cooking class, sample craft beer and wine, or learn a thing or two about the art of tea and fromagerie? Foodies can take advantage of a food extravaganza right in your own backyard. The timing is perfect because Park Hyatt Washington is hosting their winter season Masters of Food & Wine on Saturday, January 14.
Deliciously Priced Champagne for Your Event
Admit it. New Year’s Eve is almost here and you have no idea what wine to buy for an upcoming party. On the other hand, maybe you madly agreed to cook the big holiday meal and can’t decide on a wine that goes with everything.
Whatever. The point is, you waited until the last minute and don’t want to buy something on the fly that’s bound to be a mistake.
Relax. I’ve got you covered. The Food & Wine Diva’s Top Five Champagnes $50 Dollars and Under….
Sip and Shop at the 1K Wine Walk

Mediterranean Wine Dinner
