Good by Design 2011 Gives Back to Nonprofits in DC
Since 2008, the nonprofit sector has been hard hit by the downturn in the economy. Luckily, these organizations are the one receiving a helping a hand for a change. It’s all part of GOOD by DESIGN 2011, which is being held on Sunday, November 6, 2011. This is just one of the many programs that are part of DC Week, a tech and design event and we covering.
USA for UNHCR #BlueKey Tweetup
USA for UNHCR is hosting their second annual #BlueKey tweetup at Ceiba Restaurant to benefit Refugees worldwide. The Blue Key campaign’s goal is to get a minimum of 6,000 people in the US to order their own Blue Keys by December 31, 2011. You can help them reach this goal and show your support by attending the tweetup and helping to spread awareness. The BlueKey symbol was selected to depict the idea of the safe and secure home that the UN Refugee Agency strives to achieve for the 43.7 million refugees that find themselves displaced from their homes due to war, conflict, or prosecution.
Attend TEDx Mid Atlantic: Sense of Place
Few things are worth getting up for before 7:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning, unless there’s a TEDx event in town. Attendees of this year’s TEDx MidAtlantic will probably be so blown away by the line-up of guest speakers they won’t need to be fortified with copious amounts of caffeine.

DC Politicians to Hit the Karaoke Machine for Charity Event
D.C. politicians aren’t all business suits and ties these days. The American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) Mid-Atlantic Chapter is hosting the third annual “Karaoke in the Capital” event in which politicians, members of the media, and the apolitical citizens of Capitol Hill all join together to forget their political affiliation and to rock out with a microphone to some classic karaoke jams!
