Yuris Night is Back at Artisphere
On April 14th Artisphere will host an “out of this world art extravaganza” with 15 visual artists, 20 performers, and two bands. The “Wrath of Shock-a-Khan” featuring burlesque performances from DC and NYC starlets and a 45-minute performance as the S.S.S. Gagarin crew gets flown for a loop when their old Starfleet Academy buddy Shock-a-Khan comes to call.

Wanamaker Wet Electronic Music and Water Festival
Now that’s a mouthful! Otherwise known as the Wanamaker Wet Party, Rach Events plans to make a splash in the DC live music events scene. Partnering with Rock the Vote and Metromix DC, this end-of-summer electronic music festival offers attendees entrance to the Yards fountain, water games, a giant foam pit, and ten straight hours of live international and local DJ talent including Sultan + Ned Shepard, Serge Devant and Tatiana Fontes. If you’re brave enough to battle it out in a swimsuit model competition with designer swimwear provided by east coast fashion retailer South Moon Under you might walk away with cash and prizes too! The contest will be judged by the festival’s Master of Ceremonies Bianca Chardei of America’s Next Top Model fame and South Moon Under.

The second annual Art After Dark event will rock the Art Museum of the Americas of the OAS on September 1st with cutting edge music, video, and performance art. Artists include Kristina Bilonick, Carlos Florez, Billy Frieble, Philip Hodges, Melissa Krodman, Carolina Mayorga, and Wilmer Wilson, with music from Matthew Hemerlein, Screen Vinyl Image, and DJ Smudge. Your $25 ticket includes open bar, art, and entertainment. Raffle tickets for an iPad 2 are also available for purchase and all ticket holders will receive complimentary entry to L2 Lounge for an after-party.

When I hear the word “museum” I think of the library. That place where you are generally quiet, there are plenty of things to read, and you have to behave yourself because there are more rules there than most other public places. Like me, I am sure a lot of you have had daydreams of running around and touching things in a museum, just because you aren’t allowed to.
