Columbia Heights Day
DC celebrates community, diversity, and service at the 5th Annual Columbia Heights Day this coming weekend. Expect two stages of live music performances, the return of the DC State Fair, morning yoga and a dog parade, kid’s zone and petting zoo, access to your favor DC food trucks, the 2nd Annual King & Queen of Columbia Heights Pageant, contests and raffle prices — all that and an after party!
Library of Congress 2011 National Book Festival
The 11th Annual Book Festival will take place on the National Mall September 24 -25th, 2011. Organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress, the honorary chairs are no less than President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. This public event will feature more than 100 authors including David McCullough, Russell Banks, Dave Eggers, Terry McMillan, Pulitzer Prize-winners Siddhartha Mukherjee and Jennifer Egan, Garrison Keillor, Amy Chua & Toni Morrison. Books will be available for sale at the Barnes & Noble Book Sales Pavilion, so be sure to pick up any copies you’d like signed ahead of time.

Expect face painting, a balloon artist, and The Great Georgetown Water Balloon Toss at 2:00 PM!
