The Brewer’s Ball is Back
The Annual Brewer’s Ball is back for it’s 8th running year. A craft beer & food tasting festival to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Brewer’s Ball is an all-inclusive occasion to sample handcrafted microbrews from more than two dozen of the region’s best microbreweries and brewpubs as well as some of the highest rated DC-area restaurants. This year’s event will feature live entertainment by The Congress and a silent auction featuring domestic and international trips, one of a kind experiences, memorabilia, gift certificates to local events, sporting events, restaurants and more.
5th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Dip
Looking for something super cool to do this winter? How about jumping into Lake Anne in the dead of winter for the 5th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason Virginia Polar Dip?? The Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Dip is an annual event in which participants ‘chicken dip’ into the icy waters of Lake Anne with spectators cheering on, in support of Camp Sunshine. Brave souls come out in droves, dressed in fun costumes designed more for show than warmth.

The Mad Hatter’s Dance Party celebrates the upcoming premiere of The Washington Ballet’s Alice (in Wonderland). The event is the 11th annual Jete Society Dance Party, which has become one of the most popular young professionals events in Washington.
SOME 9th Annual Junior Gala
So Others Might Eat (SOME) is gearing up for its 9th Annual Junior Gala this February. Each year the gala is held to continue SOME’s mission of raising awareness and funds for its Griffin House. The Griffin House was opened in 2005 to provide safe housing for those in DC’s homeless community with 170 apartments, rooms and efficiencies.

Oyster Tasting at BlackSalt Fish Market & Restaurant
Black’s Restaurant Group is on a mission… and a roll. Hosting a slew of events to advocate for the support of children with diabetes throughout the year, chef/owners Barbara and Jeff Black intend to raise $200,000 to build a new state of the art kitchen as part of a $5 million expansion of the Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Children’s National Medical Center.
USA for UNHCR #BlueKey Tweetup
USA for UNHCR is hosting their second annual #BlueKey tweetup at Ceiba Restaurant to benefit Refugees worldwide. The Blue Key campaign’s goal is to get a minimum of 6,000 people in the US to order their own Blue Keys by December 31, 2011. You can help them reach this goal and show your support by attending the tweetup and helping to spread awareness. The BlueKey symbol was selected to depict the idea of the safe and secure home that the UN Refugee Agency strives to achieve for the 43.7 million refugees that find themselves displaced from their homes due to war, conflict, or prosecution.
