Make plans to see a remarkable show that sold out in NY, Miami and LA! “Be Careful! The Sharks Will Eat You” is a show NYTheater.com called “a story filled with strength of character, laughter, identity, and hope.” Great theater is reason enough to buy but the tickets are for a great cause too.
10th Annual Carpenters Cook-Off
Another winter is behind us, and while warmer weather and brighter days are ahead it can be easy to forget those who have to brave the elements in search for food and shelter. Homelessness is a very real problem in the DC area, but one which you can help alleviate.
Carpenter’s Cook-Off is an annual fundraiser hosted by Carpenter’s Shelter. Each year 30 of the DC area’s best restaurant’s chefs serve tasting portions of their favorite dishes. Then Cook-Off attendees get to vote for the yummiest bites while enjoying live music and a live auction on trips, tickets, meals and more. All proceeds go toward ending homelessness in the national capital region.
L’Enfant Society Ball on the Mall Kick-Off
The annual Ball on the Mall is coming up — May 5th will be upon us before we know it! But you don’t have to wait until then to get in on the fun. On March 26th, the L’Enfant Society will host the Ball on the Mall Kick-Off at The Federalist at The Madison Hotel from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
The Kick-Off is complimentary for L’Enfant Society members with a $25 fee for non-members. The Ball on the Mall is not only an opportunity to don your favorite ball gown or black tie getup, it also raises awareness and funds for efforts to preserve the National Mall, the ground of some of America greatest moments in history.
A-SPAN Victory Toss Cornhole Tournament
It’s finally spring, and United Social Sports and the Rosslyn Business Improvement District are giving you the perfect excuse to get outside and take advantage of the warmer weather. On Sunday March 25, the organizations are hosting an afternoon of outdoor fun and games to benefit The Arlington Street People Association Network (A-SPAN).
Sportsmen and spectators will fill Arlington Gateway Park in Rosslyn from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Teams of two can register by March 23 for an entry fee of $20 per person, and spectators and supporters are welcome to attend for free.
The Brewer’s Ball is Back
The Annual Brewer’s Ball is back for it’s 8th running year. A craft beer & food tasting festival to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Brewer’s Ball is an all-inclusive occasion to sample handcrafted microbrews from more than two dozen of the region’s best microbreweries and brewpubs as well as some of the highest rated DC-area restaurants. This year’s event will feature live entertainment by The Congress and a silent auction featuring domestic and international trips, one of a kind experiences, memorabilia, gift certificates to local events, sporting events, restaurants and more.
5th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Dip
Looking for something super cool to do this winter? How about jumping into Lake Anne in the dead of winter for the 5th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason Virginia Polar Dip?? The Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Dip is an annual event in which participants ‘chicken dip’ into the icy waters of Lake Anne with spectators cheering on, in support of Camp Sunshine. Brave souls come out in droves, dressed in fun costumes designed more for show than warmth.
The Mad Hatter’s Dance Party to Celebrate Washington Ballet’s Alice
The Mad Hatter’s Dance Party celebrates the upcoming premiere of The Washington Ballet’s Alice (in Wonderland). The event is the 11th annual Jete Society Dance Party, which has become one of the most popular young professionals events in Washington.
