A-SPAN Victory Toss Cornhole Tournament
It’s finally spring, and United Social Sports and the Rosslyn Business Improvement District are giving you the perfect excuse to get outside and take advantage of the warmer weather. On Sunday March 25, the organizations are hosting an afternoon of outdoor fun and games to benefit The Arlington Street People Association Network (A-SPAN).
Sportsmen and spectators will fill Arlington Gateway Park in Rosslyn from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Teams of two can register by March 23 for an entry fee of $20 per person, and spectators and supporters are welcome to attend for free.
5th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Dip
Looking for something super cool to do this winter? How about jumping into Lake Anne in the dead of winter for the 5th Annual Freezin’ for a Reason Virginia Polar Dip?? The Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Dip is an annual event in which participants ‘chicken dip’ into the icy waters of Lake Anne with spectators cheering on, in support of Camp Sunshine. Brave souls come out in droves, dressed in fun costumes designed more for show than warmth.
National Race to End Women’s Cancer
Every where you turn there’s an event, blog post, or tweet about breast cancer — rightly so, it is October and the month for awareness on this horrific disease. While we’re on the subject of cancer it’s fitting to advise you that DC actually has the highest ovarian cancer mortality rate in the nation. Washington Women in Public Relations (WWPR) plans to continue their tradition of helping others by sponsoring Fannie Mae’s 2011 Help the Homeless Mini Walk for their pro bono client, Thrive DC.

Paul Sanchez Live at Acre 121 Benefitting Show Your Hearts
Toe-tapping tunes from New Orleans native, Paul Sanchez, will be filling the room at Acre 121 in Columbia Heights next week. With an energetic atmosphere, a low-country BBQ menu, specialty cocktails and beers, and upbeat live music, you can’t go wrong for your Friday night entertainment! While the show is a free event, donations will be accepted all night for the Show Your Hearts organization and 10% of the night’s total profits will go toward this important cause.

Adult Play Date — A Charitable Affair
Now that I’ve caught your attention…Adult Play Date will work up a sweat in more ways than you’ve imagined. A day of social fitness themed around what we all remember as Field Day, this event is sure to get your competitive juices flowing. Teams of six will compete in crazy obstacles, tug of war, dodge ball, entertaining relay races and more. You’ll get your heart pumpin’ while having fun and raising awareness for fighting obesity. For each team registered $45 will fund the National Physical Activity Plan.
